Artisans creating handmade products face tough challenges anywhere, but especially in Peru. The local market is flooded with cheap factory-made goods, and the export market is difficult to access. Many have little start-up capital to keep stock of fabrics and supplies in order to quickly meet demand and survive the fast-paced international market. For the Cerrillo family, a trip to the fabric store means a several-day bus journey to 4000 meters of altitude in the mountains to access the fabric producers, who may or may not have what they are looking for.

That’s why we’ve pledged to donate 20% of proceeds from the web site to help Peter and Natali meet demand for all of their clients by keeping a stock of fabrics to get ahead on orders. For devoted artisans such as Peter, Natali, and their family, extra capital means greater ability to grow their business and keep working hard at what they love. Since we love what they do, we all win.
