The Cerrillo Family - The art of craft runs deep in Peter and Natalie’s veins. Over 25 years ago, Raul and Lucrecia Cerillo opened their first store in Cuzco to sell their handmade creations. Today they continue to work with their talented family to produce exceptional artisanal products.

Raul spends hours working at hand-crafting ceramic buttons while Lucrecia prefers to knit hats of alpaca wool for the bitterly cold Cuzco nights. They have handed over much of their business to their children. Natali’s art design career began when she was 11 playing with her mother’s fabric scraps. She continues to experiment with the fusion of traditional and contemporary design. Peter runs much of the store’s day-to-day operations and helps Natali construct her designs. Luis works with Peter in the store and his wife, Lucrecia, hand-crafts bags for the family business.

Barbara McGrath - New York entrepreneur Barbara McGrath first fell in love with the craft world when she left her acting career to start a jewelry business in the early ’70s. While acting in a play in Albuquerque, a Native American dealer took her to a reservation where, struck by the beauty of the craftsmanship, Barbara decided to bring back jewelry to sell in New York. She later began designing her own jewelry and then transitioned into designing gifts for companies to give to their advertisers. She and her husband and partner, Rich, founded Thinkspot, Inc. to be an innovator in helping small-to-medium sized business implement exceptional marketing solutions.

On a recent trip to Peru, her career came full-circle. While wandering around Cuzco, she came across a shop with extraordinary products that stood out from the commonplace tourist goods seen everywhere. She learned that the bags were made by the Cerrillo family, visited their workshop, and decided to start importing the bags to New York.
